The focus of Pitt Sauerwein's work is the concept of different aspects of self-perfoming art, using the media of photography in an autobiographical context which deals with everyday life, She is experimenting with the themes and moments of everyday life and spare time therefore acting as a tourist in her own reality.

The family snap-shot is becoming in its style 'ad absurdum'. She is inspired by and uses the aesthetics of the 'perfect world' and therefore she is not searching for concrete situations, instead she is searching for and trying to capture an interaction and the 'moments in between', The series of photographs are not to be read as a 'photo-story', they are merely fragments. Pitt Sauerwein shows in her work various facets of femininity, of masculinity by playing with and transforming landscapes and private spaces in a surrealistic way.

Pitt Sauerweinin työn keskipisteessä on itseosallistuva performanssitaide. Hän käyttää valokuvausta keinona käsitellä omaelämänkerrallisia arkielämän teemoja. Hän matkailee turistina omassa elämässään kokeillen ja tutkaillen arjen ja vapaa-ajan aiheita ja hetkiä.

Perhekuvat alkavat olla tyyliltään ”ad absurdum”. Pitt Sauerweinia innoittaa ”täydellisen maailman” estetiikka, jota hän myös käyttää hyväkseen, eikä näin ollen etsi konkreettisia tilanteita vaan hakee ja koettaa vangita vuorovaikutusta, hetkiä ”sieltä väliltä”. Kuvasarjaa ei pidä lukea kuvakertomuksena vaan kyseessä on vain palasia sieltä täältä. Sauerwein näyttää töissään naiseuden ja miehuuden eri puolia leikkimällä ja muuttelemalla ympäristöä ja yksityisiä tiloja surrealistisella tavalla.
