NIGHT PROJECTIONS

This photographic project is about a night road trip where the headlights of the car reveal pieces of landscape or people, that more or less come from a classic Italian iconography; sometimes the photograph just happens, unorganized, unplanned; while other times the scene is clearly fiction. So the darkness – that represents for me the impossibility of describing a situation so complex like that of Italy today – is cut by sudden flashes of light, almost as if you open and close your eyes into a reality that you don’t understand.

Let’s hope the battery doesn’t die…

Yön heijastuksia

Tässä kuvausprojektissa auton valot paljastavat yöllisellä ajomatkalla palasia maisemista tai ihmisistä, edustaen samalla jotakuinkin klassista italialaista ikonografiaa; joskus kuvat syntymät sattumalta, epäjärjestelmällisesti ja suunnittelematta; joskus taas näkymä on selvästi lavastettu. Näin pimeys – joka minulle edustaa Italian tämän hetken kompleksisuuden vaikeaa kuvattavuutta – leikkautuu äkkinäisiin valonvälähdyksiin, melkein kuin silloin kun avaa ja sulkee nopeasti silmänsä todellisuuteen jota ei ymmärrä.
