I photograph to remember. I take pictures of people close to me, familiar and strange places, scenes that appear in front of me. The people and the places remind me of certain periods in my life. My photographs are observations on what happens around me, and by taking pictures I try to preserve moments that exist at any particular time. For me, taking photographs is one way to create a sense of continuity and meaning in this world. It is an attempt to make a seemingly fractured life into a whole; a story with a past, present and future. With photographs I am able to create the sort of story of my life and the world around me that I want to. I see my pictures as one large mass of photographs, which can be put together in different ways in different contexts.

Valokuvaan muistaakseni. Kuvaan itselleni läheisiä ihmisiä, tuttuja ja vieraita paikkoja, eteen tulevia näkymiä. Ihmiset ja paikat muistuttavat tietyistä ajanjaksoista elämässäni. Kuvani ovat havaintoja siitä mitä ympärilläni tapahtuu, kuvaamalla pyrin säilyttämään hetkiä siitä, mikä on milloinkin läsnä. Kuvaaminen on minulle yksi keino luoda jatkuvuuden tunnetta ja merkitystä maailmassa. Se on yritystä rakentaa hajanaiselta tuntuva elämä eheäksi, tarinaksi, jossa on menneisyys, nykyisyys ja tulevaisuus. Kuvien avulla minun on mahdollista rakentaa haluamanilaista kertomusta elämästäni ja maailmasta ympärillä. Ajattelen kuviani yhtenä suurena kuvamassana, josta on mahdollista koota erilaisia kokonaisuuksia eri yhteyksiin.
